The origins of the band date back to 1985 where a group of musicians gathered for a party at the Cinder Block, a frequent party location. A decorative beach towel showing a raccoon on a surfboard provided the inspiration for the Surfn' Raccoons name. An eclectic mix of influences from Chuck Berry, The Doors, Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, The Ramones, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more.

There has been a dedication to our roots in the blues. The core of the band, Sammy on Vocals, Mike on Lead Guitar & Vocals and Jeff on Bass has stuck together through the years. The Surfin' Raccoons have gained Pug on the Drums, Hippie on the Harmonica and Larry Bell on Rhythm Guitar, Vocals and is the Booking Manager and owner of Saltwater Gypsy Productions for the band.

Throughout the years the Surfin' Raccoons have built a reputation of being THE CHOICE BAND for local restaurant and private events and parties given the flexibility, versatility and expansive repertoire. We can always get people up to dance and have a memorable experience to share with friends and families both locally, seasonal and on vacation. We love and appreciate our fans and the venues and private parties that always make us feel like family.
